Dan Degnon
This strong-armed outfielder was one of our designated "fill-ins" whenever we needed an extra body for tournaments. But over the '97 and '98 seasons Danny came on board full-time -- at least when the schedule didn't conflict with his over-30 baseball team, which was always his first choice on game day. He was one of those rare players who throws lefty but prefers to bat righty, although he could hit from either side of the plate. Called everybody "Dude", and it wasn't long before everyone gave it right back at him as a nickname. Sadly, Dan passed away in 2013 from complications from a heart transplant. You just couldn't replace that big heart Dude already had.
