Jamie Sammut
"TWO HANDS, JAMIE!" Joe Sammut's kid used to tag around after the team as a toddler, and eventually he got his chance to wear the AWA blue and gray in 1998 as the team's right fielder. As a fourteen-year-old, Jamie was the youngest player ever to wear the AWA uniform, and though he had some positive moments during his rookie campaign, most of the time he struggled with the nuances of the game of slow pitch softball. The potential was always there, however, as Jamie went on to forge a baseball career in college at Fordham, so who knows what might have been for this young outfielder if the team had stayed together? But we'll always remember dad Joe's weekly cry to his struggling right fielder, "Two hands, Jamie!"
